MIDGET CARS HEAD FOR PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY SATURDAY

Ronnie Day of Salinas, Calif. and Walt Johnson of North Hollywood, Calif. scored USAC MCI WorldCom feature victories Saturday night in events at different race tracks.

Day drove the John Lawson/Van Buerden Insurance Special to victory in the 30-lap Midget Car race at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. He led all 30 laps to beat Rick Hendrix, Matt Streeter, Mike Figgliomeni and Shane Scully to the checkered flag. Robert Dolacki posted the fastest qualifying time, while heats went to Figgliomeni, Derrick Hearron and Scully.

The USAC MCI WorldCom Western Midget Car Series continues with another 30-lap feature on tap this Saturday night at the 1/2-mile dirt Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

Johnson emerged the winner of Saturday night's 20-lap TQ Midget Car feature at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway, leading the final 11 laps after passing Todd Hunsaker on lap 10. Hunsaker and West Evans flipped during the feature but escaped injury.
