NASCAR SJAPS: Gordon Grabs First Career Bud Pole in Memphis

Millington, Tenn- Summerville, S.C.'s Benny Gordon earned
his first career Bud Pole Award by topping 26 other Slim Jim All Pro
Series, NASCAR Touring drivers this afternoon at Memphis Motorsports Park.
Gordon, driver of the Johnny's Haulmark Trailers Chevrolet, circled the
0.750-mile oval in a time of 22.294 seconds at an average speed of 121.109
mph.He will lead the field to the green tomorrow afternoon at approximately 4:45 p.m. CDT, immediately after the completion of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Quaker State 200 presented by AutoZone. The $76,350 Memphis Motorsports Park 100 is the fifth of 17 races on the 2000 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring schedule.
St. Joseph, Mich.'s Gary Terry completes the front row for tomorrow's event. The Quality First Diecast Chevrolet driver checked in with a time of 22.413 seconds at an average speed of 120.466 mph. Rounding out the top five were Brian Smith, Lee Tissot and Jeff Fultz. Series points leader Billy Bigley, Jr. starts eighth.
