USAC: 49th 'HUT 100' Scheduled Sept. 2 at Putnamville

The United States Auto Club and Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. are proud to announce the scheduling of USAC's 49th running of the "Hut 100," the MCI WorldCom National Midget Car race which will be held on Saturday night, September 2.
The 100-lap race will continue the tradition of one of America's most popular and spectacular short-track motorsports events, with a history dating back to 1954 having been contested at several different racing facilities, including Lincoln Park in 1988.
"We'd like to thank USAC for the opportunity to host this great race," said race organizers Bill and Marlene Hopton. "As fans and promoters of the event, we are pleased and proud of our chance to continue this great tradition. We have a seven-year history as "Hut 100" promoters (T.H.A.T. Racing) and our thoughts are already focused on special promotions for fans and drivers alike. To say that we're excited about this event is indeed an understatement. The "Hut 100" is an extension of our track and racing program upgrade since we began at Lincoln Park in 1997. We look forward to the Labor Day weekend event becoming a fixture on our track schedule."
USAC President John Capels added: "USAC's participants can look forward to a premier event and a record purse. The 1988 Lincoln Park event was won by Rich Vogler, who won more "Hut 100s" than any other driver in history (8) and the September 2 winner will follow in the footsteps of drivers like Rich, A.J. Foyt, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Gary Bettenhausen, Johnny Parsons, Jason Leffler, Pancho Carter, Mel Kenyon and others who have made the "Hut 100" an American classic."
