What a difference a race can make. Mike and John Coughlin went from a DNQ
to
a strong performance at the last race. Mike was the runner-up and John
was
defeated in the semifinal round. The two almost faced off in the final
round
of Pro Stock Truck, which would have been a first for the team.
John Coughlin is currently in the No. 6 position in the NHRA Winston points. Rick Jones leads John by a mere two points and Steve Johns is No. 4 by only eight points.
"We really turned things around and are very thankful that it happened as early as it did," commented John. "I believe that we are back on track and ready to continue our winning ways."
Mike Coughlin has 155 points and is in the No. 13 position. He is 50 points from breaking back into the top ten. Another strong performance this weekend and Mike could move up as high as No. 7 in the NHRA Winston Championship.
"This is an important race for us. We want to leave Atlanta back in the top ten and qualified for the Holley Dominator Duel," noted Mike.
Mike is sitting in the No. 8 spot in the Holley Dominator Duel points. This is the last race to gain additional qualifying points before the elite eight in points face off in Chicago for the 2nd Annual Holley Pro Stock Truck Dominator Duel. This special race takes only the top eight Pro Stock Truck drivers based on qualifying points.
