NASCAR BGN: David Green Track Notes, Richmond Preview

"When you race during the day, it seems like everything bleeds together," said Green. "But when you race under the lights at night, the stands disappear and suddenly, the track becomes crystal clear. Your focus is the track itself and you are able to see the groove and the bumps in the track better than you can during the day. I feel that the veterans of the series have an advantage because we have more laps on the track, and with the clearer vision, we are able to interpret the track better."
David Green on Richmond: Green has great stats at the -mile oval. In all his successes there, he still hasnt gone to victory lane.
"Ive had a few events I shouldve won, but it didnt pan out at the end of the day," said Green. "Overall, the track has been good to me over the years and is a lot of fun to race on. The track has changed as it has aged and it seems like every year you have to re-adapt to it. Im ready to for a strong run in the AFG Glass Chevrolet this week, because we have had some back luck the past couple of races and Im ready to go to a place where I have had a lot of success. Hopefully, my streak of strong runs at Richmond will continue this time out."
Equipment: The AFG Glass Team 34 is taking the same car to RIR that raced earlier this year at Nashville, where it finished eighth.
New Schedule At Richmond: In the past, the Busch Series has qualified in the early afternoon, the day before the event. This year, the Busch cars will qualify Friday morning, the same day as the event.
"Im glad NASCAR changed the schedule because it evens the playing field in qualifying," said Green. "Before, when we qualified in the late afternoon, an early qualifying draw hurt you because the cars that got a late draw had cooler track conditions, meaning a faster lap than those that went earlier. This year, we qualify in the morning, so the times should be truer to prove who really has the fastest car."
