The Le Mans evolution Reynard 2KQ, designated 2KQ-LM, is on its way to
France to be back on track at the weekend. Three sports racing teams -
ORECA, ROC Auto and Johansson Matthews Racing - will be attending the
official pre-Le Mans test session at the famous track this weekend with
a total of 5 examples of the new model.
The evolution of the original prototype introduced by the company in October last year has been given a completely new look with bodywork designed specifically for the unique characteristics of La Sarthe. Re- engineering of major componentry to cope with the demands of the high- speed endurance track has brought developments in a number of key areas, including the gearbox installation and suspension, to improve the reliability of the 2KQ.
Each of the teams has had an opportunity to put the car through a preliminary shakedown test with the LM version of the 2KQ and are looking forward to their visit to Le Mans to evaluate the developments and prepare their cars for the race itself in June.
Kieron Salter, Technical Manager, Reynard Special Projects, heads off to Le Mans saying, "Alongside our development work for the various Series in which our customers compete, we've been working on the Le Mans evolution of the 2KQ. The teams have been providing us with excellent feedback on the developments that we needed to make and we've been working together to establish the best package for the Le Mans circuit. Here at Reynard, our engineers have been in the wind tunnel until the very last minute in preparation for the 24 Hour race and we will continue the development for our customer teams right up to the race"..
