CONCORD, N.C. - When the green flag falls at New
Hampshire International
Speedway on May 13, it won't be just another race for Tim Fedewa and the
No.
36 Stanley team.
For the No. 36 Stanley team, the race at New Hampshire International Speedway will be a homecoming for a fan favorite. The track is only a quick jaunt from the headquarters of car sponsor The Stanley Works, a manufacturer and marketer of more than 55,000 tools worldwide. The company is based out of New Britain, Conn.
As The Stanley Works' home track, the No. 36 team will be showered with cheers from Stanley employees who will fill the stands at New Hampshire International Speedway for the Busch Series race.
"Loudon is our home track, and we expect a very warm reception from the NASCAR fans for Tim and our No. 36 Stanley team," said Gregor McCluskey, the director of promotion for Stanley Racing. "Tim and the Stanley team are fan favorites up here, and we hope the No. 36 car can claim the checkered flag for the home crowd."
Fedewa, a seven-year veteran of the Busch series, has had some strong runs at the one-mile flat track in Loudon. His best finish came in 1993 when he finished in sixth place. Fedewa finished 23rd in 1999 at New Hampshire.
This year, Fedewa hopes to improve on that mark and make a strong run for Stanley, one of the longest running sponsors in the Busch Series.
"Stanley has been a loyal supporter of the NASCAR Busch series for many years, and it is very important for myself and the No. 36 Stanley team to run well at New Hampshire.
"The fans in the area have always been very supportive of the Stanley team, and I hope that we can really give them something to cheer about this year."
The Stanley fans will be treated to more than just watching the sleek black and yellow No. 36 car circle the track. Stanley has also scheduled a full day of activities at their manufacturing and corporate headquarters in New Britain.
Fedewa and the Stanley show car will be on hand in the parking lot next to the Stanley Tools facility at 600 Myrtle Street in New Britain on Wednesday, May 10. Fedewa will meet and sign autographs for Stanley employees for several hours before the event is opened to the public. Fedewa will then be available for autographs and photo opportunities alongside the Stanley car from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
"As one of the longest running NASCAR sponsors, we are proud of our racing heritage and the support fans show our Stanley team," McCluskey said. "We invite everyone to come out and meet our Stanley driver, Tim Fedewa. We hope to see a lot of fans out in New Britain and Loudon when Tim and the Stanley team arrive in town."
