Buckshot Jones will pilot a brand new Chevrolet Monte Carlo this weekend
at California Speedway, instead of a Pontiac Grand Prix. Saturdays Auto
Club 300 will mark the first time Jones has driven a Chevrolet in Busch
Series competition. Jones did run a Chevrolet in the Winston Cup Series
in 1998 when he drove on a limited basis for the Stavola Brothers.
The Buckshot Racing team tested for two days this month at California Speedway in a new Monte Carlo. Although one of the testing days was rained out, the team is confident about the information learned during the test.
The Buckshot Racing team experienced their best finish of the 2000 season at Talladega two weeks ago. Buckshot finished 2nd after leading 17 laps late in the race and jumped 11 places in points from 30th to 19th.
Quotes
"The track surface at California is flawless because its smooth, wide and makes for some great racing. To run well, you need to have a car that handles well through the sweeping corners and a motor that can get you down the straightaway."
"The strong run at Talladega was important for the team all the way around because it helped us in the points, raised our spirits and gave us the momentum we were looking for."
--Buckshot Jones, driver of the No. 00 Cheez-It Monte Carlo
"We were really pleased with the testing of our new Monte Carlo at California. Although we didnt quite get to try all of the things we wanted to because of rain, Buckshot still feels pretty comfortable in the car and everybody is looking forward to California."
--Sandy Jones, crew chief of the No. 00 Cheez-It Monte Carlo
