PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Maxxis Tires has signed on as series sponsor for the 12-round 2000 AMA Maxxis Grand National ATV Series, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has announced.
Maxxis Tires, of Suwanee, Ga., is a leading manufacturer of motorcycle and ATV tires. Its three-year deal with series promoters and the AMA as title sponsor of the AMA Maxxis Grand National ATV Series, began March 18-19 at Echoconnee Off-Road Park in Macon, Ga.
Defending 250 Pro champ Doug Gust, of Salem, Wis., took the overall win, followed by Travis Spader of Brick, N.J., and Ben Jackson of Raymond, Ohio. With two rounds in the books, Gust's 55 points leads Spader, who is tied at 46 with Bowling Green, Kentucky's Jeremiah Jones.
"Grand National ATV Series promoters brought this package together, and we are very pleased to have Maxxis Tires on board as an important series sponsor," said AMA Vice President of Events and Entertainment Bill Amick. "We look forward to working with Maxxis for the next three years and hopefully many more to come."
The series resumes with a motocross-style event May 13-14 in Blountville, Tenn. In addition to the premier 250 Pro championship, the AMA Maxxis Grand National ATV Series will recognize AMA national champions in another 16 competition classes.
