ASA: Kevin Harvick to Make ASA Debut at Hickory Motor Speedway

The Kid Set to Drive ACDelco-Sponsored Car
PENDLETON, Ind. Busch Grand National rookie Kevin Harvick will make his American Speed Association (ASA) ACDelco Series debut this weekend in the Jani-King 300 at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway when he climbs behind the wheel of the number 10 Iten Chevrolet, a car that will be sponsored by ASA series entitlement sponsor and Harvicks Busch team sponsor, ACDelco.
The Bakersfield, Calif. resident is currently competing for Rookie of the Year honors in the Busch Series against 1998 ASA Rookie of the Year Jimmie Johnson among others. Harvick, 24, pilots the number 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in Busch.
Harvick began racing at the age of five when he climbed into his first go-kart, a hobby that would turn into a career. While participating in go-karts, Harvick won seven National Championships and two Grand National Championships. In 1993, he moved to a limited schedule in the Featherlite Southwest Series, where he won Rookie honors in 1995. After moving to the Winston West series, Harvick captured the series title there in 1998, which got him a full-time slot in the Craftsman Truck Series.
Harvick is young, hes fiercely determined and hes driven, said Bill Fitzgerald, ACDelco manager of sports marketing. He embodies the image that ACDelco wants to project to the world.
The ASA ACDelco Series will debut at Hickory Motor Speedway on Friday, April 21 with practice beginning at 9:30 a.m. (Eastern). ASA qualifications take place at 4 p.m. and the 100-lap qualifier race will take green at 8 p.m. On Saturday, April 22, the exclusive ASA on-track autograph session begins at 11 a.m. with pre-race ceremonies starting at 12:15 p.m. The Jani-King 300 will go green at 1 p.m and will be televised live by TNN Sports.
Tickets for the Jani-King 300 are $25 in the reserved sections and $20 in the general admission areas. Children 12 years of age or younger will be admitted free with a paying adult in the general admission seating section. Tickets are available through the track ticket office, 828-464-3655.
