INDIANAPOLIS- Truscelli Team Racing filed an entry April 11 for the 84th Indianapolis 500, with Jaques Lazier named as driver.

Lazier, from Vail, Colo., will drive the #33 Miles of Hope Truscelli Team Racing G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone, with a backup car entered. Bill Winkleblech is chief mechanic, with Anthony Tomasi as team manager.

Lazier, younger brother of 1996 Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Lazier, is Truscelli Team Racing's full-time driver in the Indy Racing Northern Light Series and is in his second year in the series. But Lazier will be classified as an Indianapolis 500 rookie. He attempted to qualify at Indianapolis for the first time last year and was bumped from the field on Bubble Day in a DR Racing entry owned by his father, Indianapolis 500 veteran Bob Lazier.

Practice starts May 13 for the Indianapolis 500, with Pole Day May 20 and Race Day May 28.

The entry deadline is midnight April 12. All entrants will compete for one of the 33 starting spots in the world's most prestigious auto race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The posted purse for last year's event was $9,047,150, an all-time motorsports record.
