NorthernLight IRL: Six more entries received for Indy 500 as deadline approaches

INDIANAPOLIS- Four teams filed a total of six
entries April 10 for the 84th Indianapolis 500, as TeamXtreme Racing,
Walker
Racing, Nienhouse Motorsports and Pagan Racing entered the "Greatest
Spectacle in Racing."
TeamXtreme filed two entries, with rookie Airton Dare and veteran Davey Hamilton driving. Walker Racing also filed two entries, with rookie Sarah Fisher and a driver to be named later behind the wheel.
Nienhouse and Pagan each filed an entry, with Scott Harrington driving for Nienhouse. Pagan will name its driver later.
Dare, from Bauru, Brazil, will drive the #88 TeamXtreme-USACredit.com-G Force G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone, with a backup car entered. Mark Lubin is the chief mechanic, with John Lopes as team manager. Dare made his Indy Racing Northern Light Series debut this season with the team.
Hamilton, from Las Vegas, will drive the #16 TeamXtreme-Lycos-G Force G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone, with a backup car entered. John King is the chief mechanic, and Lopes is team manager.
Hamilton will attempt to make his fifth consecutive start at Indianapolis. His best finish was fourth in 1998. He finished 11th last year.
Fisher, a 19-year-old from Indianapolis, will drive the #15 Walker Racing Cummins Special Riley & Scott/Oldsmobile/Firestone, with a backup car entered. Ron Catt is the chief mechanic, and Rob Edwards is team manager.
The second Walker Racing entry also is the #25 Walker Racing Special Riley & Scott/Oldsmobile/Firestone, with a backup car also entered. Tim Broyles is the chief mechanic, and Edwards is team manager.
Harrington, from Indianapolis, will drive the #17 Nienhouse Motorsports Racing Special Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone. A backup car also has been entered. Steve Dunlap is chief mechanic, with Larry Nash as team manager.
1999 Indy Racing League Rookie of the Year Harrington will attempt to make his second start at Indianapolis. He finished 15th in 1996, his only previous Indy start.
Pagan Racing entered the #75 Pagan Racing IRL Spcl. Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone. Jack Pegues is team manager. The chief mechanic and driver will be named later.
Practice starts May 13 for the Indianapolis 500, with Pole Day May 20 and Race Day May 28.
The entry deadline is midnight April 12. All entrants will compete for one of the 33 starting spots in the worlds most prestigious auto race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The posted purse for last years event was $9,047,150, an all-time motorsports record.
