Boise, Idaho- Rae-Ann Daniel, a Saginaw, Texas, resident and loyal Albertson's customer, threw the green flag this afternoon for the Albertson's 300 presented by Pop Secret NASCAR Busch Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. Rae-Ann won the opportunity through an in-store promotion and trip to the Albertson's hospitality tent this morning.
"This is the first race I've ever been to, but it won't be my last," said Rae-Ann, who has been a fan of racing for the past three years. "The people with Albertson's have been so good to me today. I got to shake hands with all the drivers in victory lane during driver introductions and I got to meet Jeff Gordon, which may have been the highlight of my day."
"My husband didn't come with me today because he wanted to be home for his fantasy baseball draft party. When I called him from a cell phone during driver introductions he couldn't believe it. "I've always been a loyal Albertson's shopper, but after all they've done for me today I will shop there forever."
But Rae-Ann almost missed her chance to visit the flag stand. During her hospitality visit this morning, she took a break to go inside and watch Winston Cup practice. She didn't intend to go back to the tent, but decided to go back for the raffle, of which the grand prize was waving the green flag for the race. Rae-Ann's raffle number was the fourth one called, but the other customers weren't present at the tent during the drawing. So the grand prize was hers.
Rae-Ann, who has two sons ages 7 and 4 who are also big race fans, won her day at Texas Motor Speedway when she visited the Ridgmar Albertson's near Fort Worth. Ridgmar wasn't Rae-Ann's home store, but a visit by the Tide showcar prompted a trip. While at the store, Rae-Ann registered to win tickets that ultimately gave her the thrill of a lifetime. Once her pre-race activities were complete, Rae-Ann spent the afternoon in the Albertson's/General Mills luxury suite.
