DALLAS -- Jerry Nadeau, driver of the No. 25 MichaelHoligan.com Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, will try his hand at a new sport this weekend in Dallas.
In addition to racing around the Texas Motor Speedway at speeds approaching 200 mph, Nadeau will try a slower speed when he throws out the first pitch for the Texas Rangers' Major League Baseball exhibition game against the St. Louis Cardinals today.
"I don't think I'll have a 90 mph fastball, but I'm going to give it my best shot," Nadeau said. "I've never been involved with any sport but racing so it will probably be a little different experience for me. Baseball may be a much slower pace than I'm used to, but that might be nice just for one night."
Nadeau's sponsor, MichaelHoligan.com, is based in Dallas, adding a little extra activity to his schedule for the weekend. Nadeau arrived in town Thursday morning in order to pay a visit to Brandon Holigan - Michael Holigan's son - and his fellow second graders at Trinity Christian Academy. His visit kicked off a reading challenge program for the elementary students.
"It was a lot of fun to show the kids our MichaelHoligan.com car, crank it up for them and tell them about my job at the race track," Nadeau explained. "I can't imagine any other show-and-tell will ever top this."
Nadeau and MichaelHoligan.com will also welcome more than 500 builders from the Dallas area to the race Sunday morning. They will receive tickets to the race and VIP hospitality treatment as part of the company's NASCAR marketing program.
