NASCAR WCUP: Schrader looking for solid weekend from start to finish

Ken Schrader Said...

"The "M&M's" Team needs to have a solid weekend from start to finish. We thought we were going to get the chance at Bristol, but it just didn't turn out to be our weekend. We did OK because we brought the car home in one piece, but we didn't do as well as we hoped. We were loose early, then we went a little too far on our adjustments and we got too tight. But about the last 200 laps the car handled the best it had all weekend. Then we had a tire start to go down with nine to go in the race and we just had to nurse it around to the finish.

"Texas Motor Speedway has come a long way since we first raced there. Last year was my best performance there qualifying, and I hope I can better that this year. Last year we started seventh, and this year we really need to qualify strong. On top of the Winston Cup action at Texas, I'm really looking forward to watching the Outlaws run on the new dirt track. I haven't seen it yet, but I hear it is a pretty sporty little track, so you better believe I'll make a trip out there."

Ken Schrader's Stats...

* The Pontiac Grand Prix the "M&M's" Racing Team will utilize this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway has not competed in 2000, but the car does have quite a history. This is the same "M&M's" Pontiac that won the pole position at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1998.

* 1999 was "M&M's" Racing Team driver Ken Schrader's best performance at Texas Motor Speedway. Last year Schrader qualified in the seventh position, one of his 16 top-10 qualifying efforts of the season. Schrader finished the 1999 Texas 500 in the 17th position, leading four laps along the way. He also started eighth and finished seventh in the 1999 Busch Series event at Texas.
