CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Mike Wallace garnered his second
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win Sunday in the Dodge California Truck
Stop
250 at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif.
In one of the most spectacular finishes in racing of late, Wallace made a dominating sweep in his Team ASE Ford around Kurt Busch and held him off for four laps to become the first Craftsman Truck driver to win from the pole on the half-mile.
"That was pretty cool," said the middle Wallace brother. "It was just a fortuitous day. We sat on the pole yesterday, which was a big goal for us, then to be able to come back and win the race was great. We got a little behind there, but just kept digging."
Wallace is definitely digging his heals into the points chase. He again took over the lead in the Craftsman Truck point standings.
But it was a special day for the Wallaces on the East Coast as well. Only a few hours earlier, older brother Rusty picked up his 50th career win in the NASCAR Winston Cup series in the Food City 500 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
As exciting as this occurrence was for the Wallace clan, this was not the first time that two of the three Wallace brothers have won on the same weekend.
Step back in time to 1994, where Kenny Wallace piloted a black and red TIC Financial Ford in the NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division and Rusty drove a black and gold Miller Genuine Draft Ford in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.
When the Winston Cup and Busch Series made their second stop at Bristol's treachorous half-mile in August, Kenny took the Busch win on Friday night while Rusty scored the Cup win on Saturday night.
