MIAMI, Fla.--John Clagett has been named Executive Director of the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series, and will now oversee all marketing and operations functions for North Americas longest-running road racing series.

Clagett, 42, began his SCCA Pro Racing career in 1984 as Director of Media Relations, and had served as Vice President, Marketing Services and Communications, since 1989.

"I have worked with the Trans-Am Series for nearly half of its 35-year existence, and Im honored to have this opportunity to help direct and shape its future," said Clagett. "The BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series has made tremendous strides toward success in the last few months, and with the assistance of the Panoz/Sanchez Group, BFGoodrich Tires and all of the series sponsors, teams and fans, we will create a modern glory days to rival any era in this series long history."

Clagett will assume his new role working out of the Panoz/Sanchez Group offices in Miami, Fla.

"John Clagett is the best person we could hope to have as Executive Director for the Trans-Am Series," said Ralph Sanchez, Panoz/Sanchez Group President. "Besides Johns obvious experience in working with the series, he has also earned the respect of the teams, competitors and industry executives that will allow him to successfully continue to carry out his responsibilities. John has not only been played an integral role in creating the new partnership between SCCA Pro Racing and the Panoz/Sanchez Group, but he has also been vital in creating and developing the direction for our new management. In my mind Johns new role really just formalizes the duties hes overseen in the past several months, but now as Executive Director weve firmly established his position."

"I have worked closely with John for several years and heartily congratulate him on his new position," said Herb Johnson, BFGoodrich Tires Director of Motorsports. "I also complement the Panoz/Sanchez Group and SCCA Pro Racing for their wisdom in selecting John for this role. BFGoodrich Tires has been involved with the Trans-Am Series and SCCA Pro Racing since 1998, and through the actions of John, our partnership has flourished and will continue to do so into the future."

"I couldnt be happier with Johns appointment," said Paul Gentilozzi, two-time and defending BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series Drivers Champion. "He adds stability and an insight that is necessary to make the Trans-Am Series what it can and should be today and into the future."
