Toledo, Ohio - ARCA has reached an agreement with the
Fast Track High
Performance Driving School that will showcase the renowned school as the
'official high performance driving school of ARCA'.
"It's the perfect match," said Fast Track President and '95 ARCA champion Andy Hillenburg. "ARCA requires extensive testing and schooling for the rookie drivers who want to go superspeedway racing, and we provide the appropriate opportunities to learn."
ARCA mandates that any driver who has never participated in an ARCA superspeedway race, provide the necessary documentation from an approved school as well as participate in one of ARCA's open test sessions.
"Times have changed here at ARCA," said ARCA Competition Director Joe Wells. "It used to be that anyone with race car that could pass tech inspection could go racing, even at a superspeedway, without meeting some level of prior experience. However, in the interest of safety, we now require each driver who wants to race on superspeedway to submit a detailed background of their driving experience so that we can assess the proper route for them to take. Almost without exception, prior to the driver's first superspeedway attempt, we expect the driver to first successfully complete an advanced course at one of the driving schools and then participate in one of the open ARCA test sessions. The Fast Track school, one of the most respected in the business, really fits our program. Andy (Hillenburg) is a past champion of our series, and he's been to all of our tracks and understands our program. We can't think of a better direction to send our rookies."
Provided the car wears the appropriate decal, The Fast Track High Performance Challenge will award $1,750 at the year-end ARCA championship awards banquet to be distributed among the top five drivers.
