To Become Exclusive Fuel Supplier For ASA ACDelco Series

PENDLETON, Ind.--American Speed Association officials announced today that it has entered into an agreement with fuel supplier elf Race Fuels and its exclusive supply all racing fuel to teams competing in the ASA ACDelco Series.

elf Race Fuels has an impressive track record of competition in the FIA Formula One series, capturing 15 Formula One World Championships and 134 Grand Prix victories since its association with the series began in 1968.

Over the past several months, elf Race Fuels has entered into "Official Fuel" partnerships with the CART FedEx Championship Series, American Le Mans Series, Auto Value Super Sprints, SCORE International, Superkarts! USA, United States Formula 3 Championship, United Speedways of America, World Karting Association and several other organizations making it the fastest growing race fuel brand in North American.

"elf Race Fuels is clearly a world-class brand with a strong history of success in virtually all forms of domestic and international motorsports competition," said ASA Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mark Gundrum. "Their involvement in the ACDelco Series underscores their range of diversity and commitment to the circle track market."

"Entering into this agreement to become the Exclusive Fuel Supplier for the ASA ACDelco Series demonstrates the companys commitment to compete within one of the premier levels of North American motorsports," said James G. Wurth, Vice President of Competition Fuels, Inc., headquartered in Indianapolis. "With all the excitement surrounding the new cars, GM Vortec ASA 5700 engine, BFGoodrich radial tires and TNN television package, we felt it was the ideal time to become involved with the ASA."

ASA also announced that elf will sponsor a $750 Pole Position award at each event, in addition to providing a $5,000 year end series bonus fund. "Through the recently completed merger of elf and the Total/Fina retail brands, we hope to expand the related cross-marketing opportunities to bring added levels of exposure to the series and its participants," said National Sales Manager for ASA Steve Farmer.

Competition Fuels Inc. will be on-hand and ready to provide full service to the teams at the series-opening BFGoodrich Tires 200 in Lakeland (FL) on February 24-26, 2000. The spec fuel for the series will be an environmentally friendly street legal 92 (R=M/2) octane unleaded gasoline.
