LAKELAND, Fla.--PAWISLAND.COM, a children's education and
entertainment company based in Lake Geneva, Wis., will sponsor ST
Motorsports and driver Wayne Leamon in the 2000 ASA ACDelco Series. The
season-opening race is at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., on
March 26. ST Motorsports is a new team in the ASA Series this year, and
also fields a team in the Busch Series with sponsor Kingsford Charcoal and
veteran driver Phil Parsons.
When children visit PAWISLAND.COM, they will discover a magical island inhabited by cats and dogs. In this special world, all of the adult pets have jobs, roles or responsibilities on the island and they teach the younger pets the difference between right and wrong. These lessons are, in turn, imparted to children as they participate in the stories.
The Paw Island Mobile Web Adventure is the cornerstone of the companys national tour promoting the website. The Paw Island Mobile Web Adventure is a state-of-the-art, custom built 53-foot semi-tractor and trailer equipped with 27 Apple iMac computer work stations and high-speed Internet access via a two-way satellite dish, allowing children to access the website in a safe and self-contained environment. The idea behind the tour is to bring the computer hardware and infrastructure to schools, since they of ten lack the funds for such technology. During the year, the Paw Island Mobile Web Adventure will be visiting schools, kids camps, childrens museums and public libraries throughout the country. The purpose of the workshop is to provide children and parents a place to enjoy wholesome family entertainment on the Internet and is free of charge. While on the website, children can solve puzzles, read and write stories, send and receive e-mail from the characters, and play games.
In addition to visiting schools, Paw Island has also announced a Computers for Classrooms initiative. Under this program, Paw Island will donate 5% of all its year 2000 sales to its Computers for Classrooms Fund, then will randomly draw names of locations they have visited and donate computers to them. For the year 2000, up to 250 computers will be donated.
The Paw Island Mobile Web Adventure will be at USA International Speedway on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26. It will also be visiting locations around Ocala, FL during the weeks of March 13-23, prior to the race. The Paw Island Mobile Web Adventure will visit College Park Elementary on March 14, Saddlebrook Elementary on March 16 and Sunrise Elementary on March 23. Other schools will be scheduled. Anyone interested in having the Paw Island Mobile Web Adventure visit their location should call Kevin Raymer at 704-888-4499 ext. 105.
