"I have always liked racing at Las Vegas and I am really excited about
going
there this year. We went out there and tested earlier this year and were
fast.
We learned a lot and hope to get even faster once practice starts on
Thursday. "-- Todd Bodine, driver of the No. 66 Phillips 66 Chevrolet

* Todd Bodine will try his luck for the third time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division during the upcoming Sam's Town 300. During the inaugural Busch Series race at Las Vegas, Bodine lead several laps, finishing the event a respectable third place. After qualifying 22nd for the 1999 Busch Series race, Bodine raced his Phillips 66 Chevrolet into the top 10. Fate went fickle on the Phillips 66 team when a piece of debris cut a fuel line and broke the motor, retiring the team from competition.
* The Phillips 66 Racing team spent two days testing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in late January, primarily to get a feel for the new Monte Carlo at tracks similar to the flat 1.5-mile oval. Crew chief Donnie Richeson said the new Monte Carlo met the team's expectations.
"We were pretty good out there during the test session," Richeson said. "We went there with a list of different set-ups to try. The car was fast right from the start of the test. The information we gathered at Las Vegas will be real useful at a lot of the other flat tracks we visit during a race season. All in all, we were real pleased with the test out there."
* Bodine will compete with a new car in Las Vegas. "Gambler" is the car Bodine will wheel around the 1.5-mile oval. "Gambler" is the car the Phillips 66 team tested at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in late January.
