ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--Stu Hayner, of Yorba Linda,
Calif., has signed with Victoria
Motorsports to contest the 2000 BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series, making a
potent one-two punch as Hayner will be teamed with the previously
announced
Willy T. Ribbs.
"This is a fantastic development," said Frank Cioppettini, Victoria Motorsports Team Owner. "I've known Stu for many years, and we have even co-driven cars before. But to have him join Victoria Motorsports with Willy T. Ribbs is really a dream come true. I think this serves notice that we are a team to be reckoned with."
Hayner has 17 career starts with nine top-10 finishes, including one win in 1998 at Road America.
"I'm really excited to be joining this effort," said Hayner. "Frank is one of the nicest people in racing, but beyond that, he is really assembling an impressive team in Victoria Motorsports. We have spoken about running together several times over the past few years, but things never fell into place until this year. As much as I really enjoy Trans-Am Series racing, I've never been able to put together a full-season deal until now. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to a great season."
Trenton Forging, of Trenton, Mich., comes on board as Hayner's major sponsor, the third year of their involvement with Hayner.
"Stuart and his Autosport Development firm have created a marketing/team building campaign that continues to be a great success," said David Moxlow, Trenton Forging President. "Our company logos on the car, along with race apparel and race picnics have increased business and employee enthusiasm. In addition, Stu has introduced us to www.motornet.org, a non-profit educational foundation whose purpose is to inspire young adults to continue their education by relating it to the exciting world of racing."
Trenton Forging produces carbon and alloy steel forgings for the automotive, railroad, and fabrication industries. Trenton supplies millions of steering and suspension components for automotive and truck applications for both OEM and aftermarket suppliers.
Rockland Standard Gear and Tom Bell Chevrolet will also add sponsorship to Hayner's Chevrolet Camaro. Hayner began racing Super Vees in the early 1980s, followed by Formula Atlantic. He was the inaugural Corvette Challenge champion in 1988, with a win at Mosport and nine top-ten finishes. His first Trans-Am Series race was at Long Beach in 1989, where he finished fifth and claimed "Star of the Race" honors. He is also a past Escort Endurance Cup GT class champion, and a multi-time winner in Firehawk, Motorola Cup and IMSA GT competition.
