PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist
Association (AMA) is
pleased to announce that FMF Racing has signed on as series sponsor for
the 14-round 2000 AMA FMF Racing National Enduro Series.FMF Racing, of Rancho Dominguez, Calif., a leading producer of aftermarket products for motocross and other off-highway motorcycles, has inked a three-year deal with the AMA as title sponsor of the AMA FMF Racing National Enduro Series, which began Feb. 20 in Coalinga, Calif. Six-time enduro champ Randy Hawkins took the overall win, followed by defending champ Ty Davis and two-time champ Michael Lafferty.
Formal announcement of the FMF Racing sponsorship was made at the Feb. 19 American Motorcyclist magazine "Evening at Indy" at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.
"FMF is very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the AMA in sponsoring the National Enduro Series," said FMF Racing National Sales Manager Bill Berroth. "We are looking forward to a long relationship together, and we plan to work closely with the AMA and individual promoters to further elevate the status of this long-running championship."
FMF Racing replaces Acerbis USA as title sponsor of the National Enduro Series, the AMA's longest-running off-road competition series.
"We appreciate the involvement of Acerbis over the past two seasons," commented AMA Vice President of Events and Entertainment Bill Amick, "and we look forward to working with FMF for the next three years and hopefully many more after that.
"The AMA and FMF have made a strong mutual commitment to the series, which has been won by many off-road racing greats -- from Bill Baird and John Penton to Dick Burleson and Ty Davis. AMA Sports has assembled a great group of clubs and promoters to whom 2000 events will be entrusted, and we look for another spirited championship battle."
In addition to the premier overall championship, the AMA FMF Racing National Enduro Series will recognize AMA national champions in another 15 competition classes.
