New NASCAR Sponsor Donates 250 Tickets To Also Benefit Local Children's Charities

DALLAS - Dallas-based Michael Holigan Companies, the leading source of building materials and services on the Internet, today donated 130 tickets for the Saturday, February 19 NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division NAPA Auto Parts 300 to honor the "2001 Teacher of the Year" nominees in the Volusia County school district. Michael Holigan sponsors the No. 25 MichaelHoligan.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, which will be driven by Jerry Nadeau in the Daytona 500.

Additionally, the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Volusia County will share 120 tickets to the NASCAR Busch Series season-opening festivities. This donation to the community totals $16,500.

"We want to help recognize the teachers who have been honored by the Volusia County school district by providing them with tickets to experience one of the premier events in Daytona," said Michael Holigan, president of Michael Holigan Companies. "Through our involvement with NASCAR, we have become very fond of the Daytona community and wanted to give something back to area residents. In addition to honoring outstanding 'Teachers of the Year,' we also are excited to provide free tickets to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Volusia County, allowing them to attend an event they may otherwise not have the opportunity to experience."

Through Michael Holigan's donation, the 65 "2001 Teacher of the Year" nominees and their guests will have access to reserved seating for not only the 42nd annual Busch Series race but also for the Winston Cup Series "Happy Hour" practice - the last practice session before the Daytona 500. "We are so pleased Michael Holigan chose to honor the Volusia County school district's 'Teachers of the Year' with this generous donation," said William E. Hall, superintendent of the Volusia County school district.

"'Teacher of the Year' is a very prestigious recognition and through this gift, we are able to make it an even more special occasion for our deserving teachers. We know they will enjoy their day at the race track."

Each of the 65 schools in the Volusia County school district nominated a "2001 Teacher of the Year" based on outstanding performance and leadership both in and out of the classroom. From these 65 nominees, a "Teacher of the Year" will be named for the entire school district on March 2 and will then advance to the "Teacher of the Year" awards for the state of Florida. Michael Holigan is the leading supplier of building materials and services on the Internet with a media presence that includes more than 500,000 Website visitors monthly at www.MichaelHoligan.com, over 4 million USA Today readers monthly and a NASCAR Winston Cup team sponsorship with Hendrick Motorsports. Additionally, Michael Holigan's "Your New House" television shows reach 80 percent of the U.S. population and can be seen five nights a week on the Discovery Channel and each weekend on more than 130 broadcast stations.
