WARD BURTON, DRIVER, NO. 22 CATERPILLAR PONTIAC GRAND PRIX

.did he expect to be this quick off the trailer:

"I really wasn't sure. We're definitely four or five tenths quicker than we were when we tested down here, so obviously the guys learned a lot. They've been very organized all through the winter months of working on these race cars, and I'm real proud of them."

.the mental challenge of Speedweeks:

"Daytona can make you or break you mentally while you're down here. You've just got to stay focused. I've left here after one day as one of the worst cars, as well as like this time, being one of the best cars. Whatever happens today doesn't necessarily mean it's going to affect your whole Speedweeks. I've been in Bill Davis cars before, where I've qualified 30th and then run in the top 10 all day long in the 125s and the 500."
