PENDLETON, Ind.--Larry Foyt has never run in the American Speed Association (ASA) ACDelco Series before, but that just means hes eligible to obtain his first goal winning Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year honors. When the season kick s off next month in Lakeland, Fla., the son of four-time Indy 500 champion A.J. Foyt will drive the Harrahs Casinos-sponsored No. 14 car.

Foyt, 22, will run in each of the 20 ACDelco Series events in 2000, 17 of which will be televised live on TNN Sports. Butch Miller, who Foyt considers the best ASA driver of all time, will head the Harrahs team.

"Running a car with fenders is going to be a new challenge for me," said Foyt, who has raced Formula 2000 cars and passed his Indy Racing League rookie test. "But I have a great team, a great sponsor and Im looking forward to a big year. My plan is to be consistent, post a strong finish in each race and walk away with the Rookie of the Year title."

Foyt began his career in 1993 racing 100cc go-carts, winning the second event he entered. In 1995, he moved up to 125cc shifter carts and a year later, won the Texas State Championship. Foyt started testing Formula cars in 1997 and passed his Indy Racing L eague rookie test at Texas Motor Speedway in 1999, turning a best lap at more than 211 miles per hour. When he isnt racing, the Texas Christian University student enjoys golf, tennis and jetskiing.

The 2000 ASA season wont be the first time the names Foyt and Harrahs have been joined. The casino company is the title sponsor of the A.J. Foyt-owned No. 14 Indy Racing League car driven by Jeff Ward. And the Rio All-Suite Casino Resort, which is owned by Harrahs, serves as title sponsor of the elder Foyts No. 11 Indy Racing League car driven by Eliseo Salazar.

Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. is the most recognized and respected name in the casino entertainment industry, operating 19 casinos in the United States. Founded more than 60 years ago, Harrah's is focused on building loyalty and value with its targeted cust omers through a unique combination of great service, excellent products, unsurpassed distribution, operational excellence and technology leadership.
