ASHEVILLE, N.C. --- Winston Cup car owner Andy Petree
announced today the
promotion of Steve Barkdoll to Executive Vice President/General Manager of
Andy Petree Racing effective immediately. Barkdoll, a Garrison, Ia.,
native,
has served in the team manager position since joining Andy Petree Racing
in
1996."Steve has been a very loyal and valuable asset to Andy Petree Racing," Petree said. "He brings a lot to the table. This race organization has grown and developed into a competitive multi-car team in the past four years and Steve has played a key role in the success of this race team.
"It's the growth of our racing program that has facilitated the need for Steve's increased involvement with the organization. In two years, we've gone from being a single-car Winston Cup team to having two Winston Cup teams and a Busch Series team. And that's just the beginning for what we have planned for the future."
Andy Petree Racing fields the No. 33 and No. 55 Chevrolets for drivers Joe Nemechek and Kenny Wallace in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, and the No. 15 Chevrolet for drivers Jack Sprague and Derrick Gilchrist in the NASCAR Busch Series.
"I am really looking forward to the opportunity Andy has given me," Barkdoll said. "It is quite an honor for him to have that much confidence in my abilities to help grow this race organization. It's not only an opportunity for myself professionally, but also an opportunity to reinforce Andy Petree Racing's presence in NASCAR and to grow the organization into a championship winning team."
