NASCAR Touring: 2000 Slim Jim All Pro Series Schedule Announced

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The 2000 Slim Jim All Pro
Series,
NASCAR Touring schedule will highlight 17 championship point events in
seven states at 14 racetracks throughout the Southeast, it was announced
today by Tom Deery, vice president, NASCAR.The series will return to the Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway and kickoff the season on Saturday, February 26th with a superspeedway event on the 1.5-mile oval in conjunction with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The series will also compete with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Saturday, May 13th at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park. The series will precede the NASCAR Winston Cup Series at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on Wednesay, August 23.
The series will also help to open the newly constructed 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway in Louisville, Ky., on Friday, June 16.
On Saturday, July 8, the series will return to where it began, in the State of Alabama, with an event on the .500-mile Montgomery Motor Speedway. It will be the first time since 1996 that the series visits the state. Steven Christian won the event held at Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, Alabama.
Coastal Plains Raceway in Jacksonville, N.C., Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S.C. and Nashville (Tenn.) Speedway USA will all host two events for the series in 2000.
USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga., Kingsport (Tenn.) Speedway, Louisville (Ky.) Motor Speedway, Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway and Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C., will each return to the schedule and host a short track event in 2000.
"This year's Slim Jim All Pro Series schedule offers competitors an exciting combination of short track and superspeedway events," stated Deery. "We developed a schedule that gives competitors a chance to compliment some of the national series events while also competing on their own at established short track facilities around the region."
GoodMark Foods, Inc., with their Slim Jim meat snacks brand has been the series title sponsor since 1993. They will once again join NASCAR as a marketing partner to the series in the year 2000 with a commitment to the Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring championship point fund.
Nine NASCAR Touring Series blanket the United States, bringing special events to many NASCAR Weekly Racing Series tracks and some NASCAR superspeedways and road courses. NASCAR Touring Series can provide a competitor with an entire career, or they can provide valuable experience to competitors moving through the NASCAR ranks. Corporate sponsors make significant contributions to NASCAR Touring Series point funds. The sponsors include R.J. Reynolds, Anheuser-Busch, Featherlite Trailers, Slim Jim, Goody's Headache Powders, Raybestos Brakes, and the RE/MAX International, Incorporated.
