Orlando, FL: Robby McGehee will start tomorrow's Delphi
Indy 200 at the
Walt
Disney World Speedway in the second row-his best career start to-date.
The
fourth place starting position was dictated by weather conditions as qualifications were rained out. The Indy Racing League determined that starting positions would be determined by last season's championship point standings. The Treadway Racing team finished up last season in fifth position, but technical issues bumped the #55 Energizer Advanced Formula car up to fourth for a closer look at the green flag for tomorrow's festivities.
The 26 year-old St. Louis resident is pleased with his starting view and feels, that despite the rain, he and the Energizer Motorsports crew are ready to "tackle" the first race of the season. "The car is really comfortable," stated McGehee. "We had been primarily concentrating on our race-day set-up anyway, so we don't feel like we were caught off guard by the weather. We have tested really well down here and my crew chief Skip Faul and engineer Jeff Britton have done a great job of getting the car where it needs to be, so I think we have a great shot at it tomorrow."
Speaking of "tackling", McGehee-with support of the St. Louis based Energizer-will be running a Rams helmet decal on the car tomorrow for a little early support of his home team as they head to Atlanta for the Superbowl. A die-hard Rams fan, McGehee is hoping to make the game in Atlanta on Sunday-weather permitting.
The inclement weather forced a rainout for all of the day's activities, however the Indy Racing League scheduled an additional practice session tomorrow morning to allow all drivers to make a final full-tank run in preparation for the 12:00 p.m. (EDT) race start. A tricky one-mile oval located within the heart of the Walt Disney World Park, tomorrow's Delphi Indy 200 promises to bring an exciting race to the fans. Broadcast on ABC Sports, coverage will be live with the broadcasting team of: Bob Jenkins, Tom Sneva, Jack Arute and Vince Welch.
