IRL: Team Cheever Qualifying Notes and Quotes, Orlando

29 January 2000

Due to heavy rains, the starting line up for tomorrow's Delphi Indy 200 was established by 1999 Indy Racing League entrants points. New entrants were ranked at the end of the field according to practice speeds from Friday's practice sessions.

Eddie Cheever, Jr. will start his #51 Team Cheever Riley & Scott/Firestone/Infiniti from outside Row 3 in 6th position.

"(On strategy for the race) It is always difficult to strategize for a race. We have a new chassis. We are running on new tires. And we have a new engine. You can test all winter long, but in the end, the true test comes race day. Those who have prepared best will have the greatest chance of winning. I'm just going to try and stay off the wall and make the car last 200 miles. After all, it is very hard to win a race standing in pit lane." - Eddie Cheever, Jr.
