Reigning Speedvision GT Champion Bobby Archer
will return to defend that title in the No. 32 Dodge Viper. Archer also
confirmed that the Viper Speed operation will move from Michigan to Ft.
Worth, Texas.
"Well have more information in the next week to 10 days regarding sponsors, but for now the important thing is that we know well be back in 2000," said Archer, who took home an SCCA Pro Racing-record $50,000 Championship bonus in 1999.
Viper Speed plans a two-car effort, with Archer driving the No. 32 entry and rookie Jimmy Adams in the No. 77 Viper. Adams contested two World Challenge events in 1999, finishing 30th and 13th at the Road Atlanta doubleheader. He also was a front-row qualifier at the Valvoline Runoffs at Mid-Ohio in the Touring One class.
Archer has forgone his option to carry No. 1 on his car for winning the 1999 title.
"Honestly, I dont really like No. 1," continued Archer. "It took me a long time to get back to No. 32, which is what I always used to run. Its a special number for me."
