Davey Sports Management will develop a two-tiered approach to creating a line of licensed products. The first will focus on contemporary USAC events, drivers and racing cars and feature USAC's top three divisions: Silver Crown, Sprints and Midget Cars. The second, themed "USAC Legends," will feature historic logos, images, drivers and events from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
Davey Sports Management will pursue relationships with manufacturers in apparel, accessories, toys and games, interactive media, collectibles, novelties and automotive aftermarket products. "Motorsports remains one of the hottest categories in the licensing industry," commented Davey Sports Management President Kevin Davey. "We are excited about the opportunity to build a licensing program for one of the oldest and most revered brands in motorsports."
John Capels, USAC President, also added: "The need to initiate a licensing program required a dedicated focus on our brand name and we felt Davey Motorsports Management could best achieve our mutual goals of establishing various lines of licensed USAC products."
USAC recently extended its long-standing television contract with ESPN to televise its Thunder series. USAC events will be televised live on ESPN2 on Sunday nights in 2000.
