ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--Bob Ruman, of Munroe Falls,
Ohio, will contest his fifth
BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series season in 2000 at the wheel of a
Chevrolet
Corvette, following four seasons of driving a Camaro.
Ruman is returning to his roots by racing a Corvette, having started his motorsports career autocrossing a Corvette. From 1993 to 1995, Ruman competed in SCCA Club Racing in the GT-1 class with a Camaro, winning numerous National and Regional events, and also drove at the SCCA amateur racing National Championship Valvoline Runoffs.
"Im very excited about our decision to run a Corvette this year," said Ruman. "Ive been a long-time Chevrolet fan and have enjoyed racing the Camaro, but Im even more enthusiastic about racing a Corvette again."
Rumans No. 23 Corvette will sport primary sponsorship from the Cenweld Corp., a Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, manufacturer of truck bodies and snow and ice control equipment. Commercial Ullman Lubricants Co./Mobil is associate sponsor.
Ruman has 14 top-10 finishes in 51 career starts, including a career-high third at Vancouver in 1999.
Rumans daughters, Amy and Niki Ruman, will both contest the 2000 Pro Spec Racer series as well as SCCA Club Racing National Spec Racer Ford events.
