Trans-Am Series driver Don Sak, of
West Bloomfield, Mich., will have a new look in 2000 as he trades his
familiar
Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme for a Chevrolet Corvette.
"We looked at all of our options, and being a long-time Oldsmobile supporter, it was personally hard for me to make the change," said Sak. "I feel that this is the best way for our team to continue."
Sak, who raced in his 100th Trans-Am Series event at the 1999 Sebring finale, will contest the entire 2000 season, with A & E Plumbing & Drain Cleaning an associate sponsor of the No. 10 Sak Racing Corvette.
Don Sak Racing has also signed Shail Duhaime as crew chief and Shane Duhaime as lead mechanic. The brothers will prepare Saks Trans-Am Series Corvette and Robert (son of Don) Saks Pro Spec Racer sports racer.
"Shail and Shane were my crew when I drove the RaceWerX Mustang at two events this year," added Don Sak. "We hit it off really well. When I learned of their availability, I was glad they accepted to be a part of my team. Shail was also involved with the winning Pro Spec Racer team of Jack Willes this year and should be a great asset to Bob's campaign." said Don.
Robert Sak will contest the entire Pro Spec Racer series in 2000. In addition, Robert is also competing in the SCCA National Championship series with the aspiration of contesting the 2000 SCCA Club Racing Valvoline Runoffs. Sak was voted "Most Improved Driver" in the Pro Spec Racer series in 1999, an honor bestowed upon him by his fellow competitors.
