As NASCAR 2000 takes a look at the future of NASCAR, some drivers and team
owners are making plans to ring in the New Year in their own special way.
For some, its simply staying at home with family --
Richard Childress on his Montana ranch, Buckshot Jones at the family farm in Georgia, and Felix Sabates at his farm in North Carolina. For others, however, a little more excitement is planned. NASCAR Winston Cup driver Matt Kenseth is going to the Metallica concert at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan, while fellow Busch Series driver Randy LaJoie plans on inviting about 250 people into his "big living room" at his race shop.
For NASCAR Winston Cup driver Kenny Wallace, New Year's Eve will have a more personal twist.
"My plans are kinda like a love story," Wallace said. "I proposed to my wife under the arch in St. Louis in 1982. So, for New Year's Eve, we are going to return to the arch with our three kids and ring in the new millennium. The kids might not get it, but they will remember where they were."
