After taking delivery of its new Reynard 2KI chassis late
last week, Marlboro Team Penske was scheduled to give its new Honda
Reynard
package its first shakedown Wednesday and Thursday at the Homestead-Miami
Speedway road course.
Gil de Ferran was slated to test Wednesday and Thursday while Helio Castro-Neves is set to get behind the wheel Thursday afternoon.
"We've scheduled Gil to do the majority of the testing since he has experience with the Honda Reynard and he can provide some initial feedback," said Tim Cindric, President of Penske Racing, Inc.
Cindric also announced that Andrew Borne, who previously worked with Castro-Neves at Hogan Racing, has joined Team Penske as race engineer for Castro-Neves. Tom German, who has been with the team since 1997, will serve as race engineer for de Ferran.
