Lewisburg, TN- Two Middle Tennessee-based powerhouses have joined forces for the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series season. International Comfort Products, through its Tempstar heating and cooling products, announced today, that it has partnered with 19-year-old driver Casey Atwood as a new associate sponsor on his Brewco Motorsports No. 27 Castrol GTX Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The announcement also marks the Lewisburg, Tennessee-based company's first full-time venture in NASCAR racing.
"We're really excited to have this opportunity to work with Casey," said Brian Cash, Director of Marketing for Tempstar. "He grew up here in Middle Tennessee and it means a lot to our employees to be supporting a local hero. He has a terrific future as a NASCAR driver and offers a great opportunity to promote Tempstar furnaces and air conditioners."
Tempstar products are manufactured by International Comfort Products Corporation (USA), a leading North American manufacturer of quality residential and light commercial heating and cooling products. Through its nationwide network of independent distributors, International Comfort Products markets a variety of heating and cooling products including split-system air conditioners, package air conditioners, split-system heat pumps, package heat pumps, and package gas/electric combination units. These products range up to 40 tons cooling capacity and are installed in homes and businesses all across North America.
"However, we're not content just to have the Tempstar name seen on Casey's car," said Cash. "We are using this program as the centerpiece for a comprehensive new drive to help Tempstar heating and cooling contractors accelerate sales."
Atwood, a resident of the Nashville suburb of Antioch, is no stranger to Tempstar or International Comfort Products. The two-time Busch Series winner lives a short distance from its two thousand employee manufacturing plant in Lewisburg.
"I grew up about 30 miles from their plant outside Nashville and I know a few people who work there," said Atwood. "It adds new meaning to my racing knowing that I have the support of a local company. Next season, we expect to challenge for the 2000 Busch Series championship and I'm glad Tempstar will be a part of it."
Atwood launched his racing career at the age of 10, competing in go-karts nationally in the World Karting Association. Three years later and after much success, he graduated to a four-cylinder mini-stock car division. When he turned 15, Atwood moved into the Late Model Stock division at Highland Rim Speedway, located an hour north of Nashville. He captured over a dozen victories even before receiving his Tennessee state driver's license on his 16th birthday.
Today, Atwood competes in the NASCAR Busch Series driving the No. 27 Castrol GTX Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the Central City, Kentucky-based Brewco Motorsports team. He has proven his success to be genuine. In his short but storied Busch Series career, he has two wins, four poles, six top five and 10 top 10 finishes and his career winnings are in excess of $500,000.
