PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Responding to increasing demand from AMA members, the motorcycling public, and motorcycle racing fans, the AMA's travel division has created a series of exclusive motorcycle-event excursion packages for the year 2000. One of the most sought after destinations -- Daytona Bike Week -- is now available.

The March 6-12 Daytona Bike Week travel package will provide you with an insider's view of one of motorcycling's biggest and most highly attended events. The package includes a full week of accommodations at a beach-front resort hotel in the Main Street district; passes to a selection of AMA races from dirt tracks, to AMA Supercross, to the legendary Daytona 200; and an optional rental motorcycle. Race access is enhanced with special pit tours and technical discussions by AMA staff, along with opportunities to meet top racers.

Racing is one reason many motorcycling enthusiasts attend Bike Week. However, for a large percentage of riders, it's being a part of the rolling street scene that really makes the trip extraordinary. With AMA Travel's Daytona package, participants have the option of making sure a set of wheels is waiting for them at Bike Week in the form of a late-model Harley-Davidson. The bike is available the entire week, courtesy of a special AMA partnership with EagleRider Motorcycle Rental.

"Our Daytona package addresses two key challenges that motorcyclists face when considering a trip to Bike Week," says AMA Travel Director Frank Covucci. "The first is knowing in advance that you'll have quality accommodations, which are nearly impossible to obtain unless you've made reservations months out. The second issue is simply getting to Daytona with your bike during the end of the winter season. This travel package allows you to fly there, and ride a rental Harley all week." If, however, you'd rather ride your own bike at Daytona, AMA Travel can custom-tailor your tour to include motorcycle shipping from your home.

For more information about Daytona Bike Week, and any of the other AMA racing travel excursions, or to make reservations, contact AMA Travel Coordinator Brenda Finney at (614) 856-1900. AMA Travel expects this tour to fill quickly, so call now.
