CONCORD, N.C.--- Cicci-Welliver Racing announced today
that Richard Lasater has been named as crew chief of the No. 36 Stanley
Race
Team with driver Tim Fedewa. Brian Smith will serve as car chief.
"We are very pleased to have Richard as part of our team," said Clyde McLeod, team manager of Cicci-Welliver Racing. "We tried to get him a couple of years ago, but he had other commitments at the time. With his expertise and experience, we think that he will be a good match for this organization."
Richard Lasater is a former driver in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division. Eventually, he gave up his driving duties to become a crew chief. His best season as crew chief in the Busch Series came in 1998 with driver Kevin Lepage. During that season, they accumulated one pole, one win (Bristol), six top-five and 10 top-10 finishes.
"I'm really excited about joining Cicci-Welliver Racing," said Lasater. "It is a highly respected, stable organization that has been in the Busch Series for many years. I have worked with Tim Fedewa before and we get along really well. He is a talented driver that has a lot of potential to do really well in this series. We expect to get some poles and win some races and build a team that can compete for the championship in the future."
"Richard and I used to help each other out when he was driving," said Fedewa. "He was also my crew chief for part of the year in 1996, so I know that we work well together. I'm thrilled to have him join the Stanley team. I think he will have a lot to offer the entire organization."
