JEFF BURTON --99-- Exide Batteries Taurus (Finished 5th) -- "We had a little better car than a fifth-place car. We rode around a lot today and then when it got ready to go I took off. We were running the leaders down pretty good there. We gambled a little bit and took two and that didn't work out for us, but it's the last race of the year and with Gordon falling out we knew we had fifth (in the point standings). It looked like the 12 car took off really good on two tires there on that run before the last caution so we figured we'd try it. It didn't work out for us, but the last race of the year we gambled a little bit." HOW ABOUT THAT FIGHT FOR FIFTH. DID YOU BREATHE A SIGH OF RELIEF WHEN HE DROPPED OUT? "Well, yeah, but I'd rather race him for it. I hate that he had mechanical problems or whatever happened. I hope Michael Waltrip's OK, that's the main thing in my mind right now. It's not a bad day for us at all."
