NASCAR WCUP: Special weekend coming up for Schrader in Atlanta

KEN SCHRADER'S THOUGHTS HEADING INTO THE NAPA 500:

* "This is going to be a very special weekend for the Skoal Racing team," said Schrader, driver of the Skoal Racing Monte Carlo. "It is the last race that U.S. Tobacco will sponsor a NASCAR Winston Cup car. They have been involved in the sport for 19 seasons and have been the leader when it comes to sponsors. When most people think of Winston Cup, the first sponsors that come to mind are Skoal Racing and STP. The are the longest running sponsors in the history of the sport.

"Skoal Racing has been a great sponsor to Andy Petree Racing and myself for the past three years. It is a shame that they will no longer be a part of the sport. They'll be missed by a lot of people."

ANDY PETREE'S THOUGHTS ABOUT THE SEASON FINALE:

* "I am proud to say that I have been associated with the Skoal Racing team for most, except the three years I spent with Dale Earnhardt, of my Winston Cup career," said Andy Petree, owner of the Skoal Racing Monte Carlo. "Mt first experience came with Harry Gant and Leo Jackson Motorsports. I can say that the two of them were mostly responsible for the knowledge I have about race cars.

"Now that I'm an owner, I look at the departure of a sponsor a little more carefully. It is a shame to lose a sponsor that has given so much to the sport over the past two decades. They will be greatly missed by everybody in the sport."

SKOAL RACING TEAM NEWS:

* For the final NASCAR Winston Cup event, the No. 33 Skoal Racing Monte Carlo will be adorned with the familiar green paint scheme and the signatures of all of the team members and drivers.

"We thought this would be a great way to seize the day," said Steve Barkdoll, General Manager of the No. 33 Skoal Racing Monte Carlo. "We really wanted to do something unique to thank the team guys, the drivers and the fans."
