The Pro Stock Truck class ran the first two rounds of competition today.
The
Championship was decided as the teams raced the first round.
John Coughlin faced off against Brad Jeter in the first round. The yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10 took the starting line advantage. The two Chevy's raced side-by-side down track toward the finishline. Jeter took the win light by .013 seconds, which is about six inches.
John commented, "I had a great 'rookie' season in Pro Stock Truck. I won a race and ran competitive throughout the season, which says how good our team is."
Mike Coughlin faced Greg Stanfield in the first round, Mike was in the right lane. The JEG'S machine took the reaction time advantage off of the starting line. Mike raced toward the big end. His truck lost traction at half track, which caused the rear to hunt for bite on the track. Mike stayed with it, but the win light came on in the other lane.
Mike noted, "We had a strong season and we are looking forward to having a stronger program in the 2000 season."
The JEG'S Mail Order Racing team will focus on winning the 2000 NHRA Winston Pro Stock Truck Championship. The entire team will return for the 2000 season and will do a lot of testing in the off season.
