The second day of qualifying got under way this afternoon at Pomona
Raceway.
The Pro Stock teams made one run yesterday and had a much better idea of
what
the track was like today.
Jeg started the day resting in the number twenty-eight spot and was on the outside looking in. During the session yesterday the fuel pump wasn't turned on. Coughlin commented, "I made a mistake yesterday."
The #2 yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order car pulled up to the starting line ready to make a big move forward in the qualifying order.
The yellow and black car launched from the beams on a mission. He followed the center of the groove all the way down track. Jeg marched up to the number eight position and will have two additional chances to improve tomorrow. Coughlin made the biggest move in the qualifying order.
Jeg explained, "We now have a great baseline to work from and we will continue to fine tune our setup in the last two qualifying sessions tomorrow."
Troy Coughlin showed that he is someone to keep an eye on this weekend. The #24 JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass took on the left lane during the second session. He launched from the starting line with authority. The Maskin/DART Machinery horsepower hooked up well with the track and Troy moved into the number two spot.
Troy said, "That was a good run and it felt great from where I was sitting. We have a good handle on the track this weekend." Troy was the quickest car of the session and was number two in speed.
