Mad Dog, the No. 27 Castrol GTX Chevrolet Monte Carlo which Casey Atwood piloted to one win (Milwaukee) and two poles (Milwaukee and Gateway) in 1999, returns to action in Saturday's Outback Steakhouse 200 NASCAR Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway after a 10 race hiatus.

"This is my favorite car," said Atwood, a resident of Antioch, Tennessee. "It runs good on flat tracks and we've been saving it for Phoenix."

In addition to driving his favorite car, Atwood is also competing on his new favorite' race track.

"Phoenix is also my favorite track or it at least it looks like it could be from on TV," joked the 19-year-old driver. "Even though I have never been here before I know I'm going to like it because it's flat and we've been strong on every flat track. Ever since we won in Milwaukee, I've been looking forward to this race."

FOR SALE - USED 1999 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO BODY PARTS:

The Castrol GTX Racing NASCAR Busch Series team recently started the transformation of its fleet of Chevrolet Monte Carlo's for driver Casey Atwood from the 1999 body style to the new 2000 sheet metal.

"It's been a mad dash," said co-crew chief Kip McCord. "With just two races left, we've been cutting bodies off the cars we won't use again this season. We've got so much sheet metal around the shop, its starting to look a used parts showroom."
