United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis is 15th of 17 races on 2000 schedule
INDIANAPOLIS- The date of the inaugural United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis is officially set for Sept. 24, 2000, according to the 2000 Formula One schedule released recently by the FIA, the world governing body of motorsports.
The United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis will be the 15th of 17 races on the 2000 schedule, creating a good chance that the World Drivers Championship could be decided on the 2.61-mile (4.2-kilometer) circuit at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race will be the first Grand Prix in the United States since 1991.
The season will start March 12 with the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne and end Oct. 22 with the Malaysian Grand Prix at Kuala Lumpur.
