There were thirty-five Pro Stock cars battling for the sixteen available
positions on raceday. Yesterday there were two qualifying sessions. Jeg
started the second day of qualifying sitting in the number six spot and
Troy
was in the number eight slot.
Jeg Coughlin was in the first pair of Pro Stock cars to go down the track today. The third qualifying session was delayed by rain, which happened during the session for Pro Stock Bike class. All of the Pro Stock teams and drivers watched as the yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order car left the starting line. The car hooked up with the track and cruised down the center of the groove. Coughlin landed in the number thirteen spot after the third session.
Jeg said, "The car responded better during the third session. We have the car going straight and now we can fine tune our setup."
During the third qualifying session Troy took on the right lane and was eight pair behind his younger brother. The #24 JEG'S Mail Order machine launched from the starting line and took off down the track. Troy improved his qualifying time and moved into the number eleven slot.
Troy commented, "The changes that we made to my car worked well. The emphasis will turn toward fine tuning the car and improving our qualifying position."
During the final qualifying session Troy was the first of the two JEG'S machines to go down the track. Troy took on the left lane. He launched from the starting line and moved to the right. The car lost traction and Troy shut off.
Troy ended up in the number thirteen position and will face off against Mike Edwards in the first round tomorrow. Troy noted, "We just went a little too far on the setup. We are ready for raceday and I can't wait until the first round."
The rain finally put an end to the Pro Stock qualifying. There were nine cars left to run the final session, Jeg Coughlin was one of the cars waiting when the session was canceled. Jeg landed in the number fifteen spot and will line up next to Don Beverly in round one.
Jeg said, "I was really looking forward to running. I think that we had a setup that was going to put us toward the top. We will switch our focus to winning tomorrow."
