Reynard Champ Car driver, Adrian Fernandez, took victory at the final
round of the 1999 Fedex Championship Series, with Juan Montoya driving
the Reynard of Target Ganassi Racing finishing fourth to take the
Drivers Championship title. Sadly, the event was overshadowed by the
fatal accident of Greg Moore early in the race.
Reynard took the top two finishes, with Max Papis, driver for Team Rahal, finishing seven seconds behind Fernandez. Montoya's 4th place finish, and Dario Franchitti's 10th place put the title contenders equal on points, but Montoya's 7 race wins to Franchitti's 3, gave the Target Ganassi driver the Driver's title, the fifth consecutive Driver's Championship to be won by a Reynard Champ Car driver.
