Indianapolis, IN: In an effort to continue their winning
traditions,
both on and off the track, Treadway Racing took their first step toward
solidifying a championship program for the 2000 IRL season, by renewing
contracts with Crew Chief Skip Faul and Engineer Jeff Britton. Both
have agreed to a multi-year deal, which puts the team in a favorable
position to deliver on track results to interested sponsors.
Currently, the team has not announced plans for the 2000 season, as the title sponsorship is still available. But vice president Scott Cronk is confident that the contracts with Faul and Britton are a valuable asset as the team searches for funding. "As a team we are committed to excellence," he stated. "Our superior on-track performance has delivered exceptional exposure and business value for our sponsors. Jeff and Skip have been instrumental in all of our successes and I am pleased to be able to announce a continuing relationship with both of them. A key to our performance over the past several years has been maintaining internal continuity, and it is this stability that will put us in the best possible position to be a top contender for the 2000 IRL Championship."
This year-his first as head engineer-Jeff Britton has helped propel Sam Schmidt toward seven top ten finishes, six top five finishes, four podiums, one pole position and a victory at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Over the course of the 1999 season, the combination led a total of 208 laps.
Faul was signed at the beginning of the 1997 season, and through his guidance, the team captured the victory, pole and second place at that year's Indy 500. Well known for his relationship with the retired open- wheel legend Arie Luyendyk, Faul and Luyendyk amassed a total of three victories, two poles, four podiums, six top five finishes and 9 top ten finishes over the course of the '97 and '98 IRL seasons.
The combination of the two, Britton and Faul, has elevated Treadway Racing into the upper echelon of open wheel racing with an on-track performance record that establishes them as fierce competitors and technological innovators in the motorsports arena.
