Ventura (Calif.) Raceway hosts another USAC "doubleheader" this
Saturday
night, but the MCI WorldCom TQ Midgets are expected to take center stage
due
to a tremendous battle developing for the 1999 series championship.
The MCI WorldCom Western Midget Cars and TQs share the program on the 1/5-mile dirt track and although the Midget Car title has not yet been decided, the TQs should command the focus, with Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif. trailing Greg Edenholm of Agoura, Calif. by only four points.
Only three TQ races remain on the calendar, while five Midget Car events are left in the season.
Edenholm has scored two victories this year and Wise four, but one of Edenholm's came at Ventura while all four of Wise's were at Irwindale Speedway.
Marc DeBeaumont of Clayton, Calif. continues to lead the Western Midget Car Series points but Shane Scully of Encino continues to remain in the race, only 76 points behind.
A total of 42 points are available in each series at Ventura where a 20-lap feature awaits the TQs and a 30-lapper concludes the Midget Car action.
