INDIANAPOLIS- An update of the conditions of driver Sam Schmidt and crew member Tracy Hash, injured during the Mall.com 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, issued by Dr. Henry Bock, Pep Boys Indy Racing League director of medical services:

Treadway Racing driver Schmidt underwent surgery on both feet Thursday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis under the guidance of Dr. Kevin Scheid. The surgery on his left foot was successful, Scheid said. Schmidts right foot will require more surgery, tentatively scheduled for Monday, Scheid said.

Schmidt suffered a fractured left foot and a fractured toe on his right foot in an accident during the race Oct. 17.

Hubbard-Immke crew member Hash underwent seven hours of surgery on his left leg Thursday at Methodist Hospital under the guidance of Scheid. No decision has been made yet on further surgery, Scheid said.

Hash suffered a compound fracture of the left leg above the ankle in a pit-road accident during practice Oct. 16.

Further updates will be provided when available.
